PLUM
The origin of the plum seems to go back to the areas of the Caucasus, Anatolia (area of present-day Turkey) and Persia (present-day Iran). Through the writings of Greek and Roman historians we know that this fruit was treated as wild by the first and that the latter already knew different varieties.
At present, the main plum producing countries are Argentina, Chile, South Africa, the United States and Spain, where cultivation in Aragon and Extremadura, in Seville and in the Mediterranean Basin is particularly important.
The plum is a fruit of rounded or oval shape with heart-shaped structure, crossed by a groove that runs along it, dividing it practically in two. Each variety has a different color and flavor.
Plums are mainly composed of water, including a basic supply of minerals, vitamins and fibers.
But if there is a quality popularly recognized plum is its laxative action thanks to its fiber content, in sorbitol, which stimulate the activity of the muscles of the colon and protect the intestinal mucosa, making it ideal for breakfast as prevention of the problems of constipation.
Our plums are available from the beginning of August until the month of December. We are planting new varieties every year and have selected the most suitable areas of Aragón for our plum crops. The unbeatable climatic conditions in this region are optimal to guarantee the characteristic color, hardness and a better flavour.
