CHERRY
Cherry is the fruit of the cherry tree, tree of the Rosaceae family. The fruit is small, about 2cm in diameter, whose colour ranges from light red to dark purple.
Its geographical origin is not known exactly, but it is believed that it comes from countries near the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, later spreading to Europe and Asia, through birds and human migrations.
Most of the cherry species that are cultivated today have their origin in a wild plant, Prunus avium, a fruit known and appreciated in the Mediterranean basin since the Ancient Age and those, both Greek and Roman, were responsible for spreading and extend. In particular, the Romans were well aware of grafting techniques and were able to create new varieties of cherry, with new flavours, in addition to spreading the fruit throughout the Empire.
At present, the cherry tree is cultivated in numerous regions and countries of the world with temperate climate, being the countries of greater production Russia, the United States, Germany, Italy, France and Spain.
Cherry is rich in carbohydrates, mainly simple sugars such as fructose, glucose and sucrose. Provides considerable amounts of fibre, which improves intestinal transit.
Our cherries are available from the beginning of May to the first part of the month of July. We are planting new varieties every year and have selected the most suitable areas of Aragon for our cherry crops. The unbeatable climatic conditions in this region are optimal to guarantee the characteristic colour, hardness and a better flavour.
