PEACH (Prunus Persica)

The peach is native to China, where samples have been found that was already cultivated more than 3000 years ago. From China the peach tree went to Persia (hence its scientific name Prunus persica) from where it was transferred by the Romans to Europe. In the Middle Ages, its cultivation spread throughout the continent and, in the 19th century, the peach tree could already be considered as an expanding crop.

The peach, like seasonal fruit is sweet and juicy, has bone and velvety skin that can be yellow, orange or pink depending on the variety. It belongs to the botanical family of Rosaceae.

The tree from which it is born, the peach tree, is a small deciduous tree that grows in temperate zones and is sensitive to cold, although it can withstand temperatures of up to -20 degrees.

Like most fruits, the peach is made up mostly of 86% water, so it has few calories. It also provides a large amount of vitamins, minerals and fiber. Because it has a low level of sodium, taking peach is beneficial for those who have high blood pressure or have excess cholesterol.

The main producing countries are China, the United States, Argentina, Chile, France, Greece and Spain.

Our peaches are available from the month of June to the first part of the month of October. We are planting new varieties every year and have selected the most suitable areas of Aragon for our peach crops. The unbeatable climatic conditions in this region are optimal to guarantee the characteristic color, hardness and a better flavor.
